According to the United States Census Bureau, Patoka Township covers an area of 43.79 square miles (113.4 km2); of this, 43.07 square miles (111.6 km2) (98.36 percent) is land and 0.72 square miles (1.9 km2) (1.64 percent) is water. The Patoka River flows through the township from east to west.
